Jerker Lessing in the new podcast Future Distributed

In September, BoKlok welcomed Will Needham, founder of the Future Distributed podcast, focusing on innovative construction methods. BoKlok, being a sustainable, quality and low-cost home provider with an industrialised building process, had caught his eye. Jerker Lessing, research and development manager at BoKlok, was interviewed for the podcast.

Earlier this year, London based Will Needham decided to quit his job and launched a podcast about innovative construction methods. With the goal of traveling around the globe doing interviews with the foremost in that area, he reached out to Jerker Lessing at BoKlok in the end of summer and came to Sweden for an interview in early autumn. In addition to the interview, Will Needham visited the BoKlok project Glasörten in Bunkeflostrand near Malmö, and the furnished showroom home there.

The podcast interview lasted for about an hour, and the main topics were:

  • How can pre-fabricated housing meet the urgent requirement to build more, high-quality homes in cities around the world?
  • What are some of the benefits of manufacturing houses this way?

Except for the above, Jerker talked about the connection between Skanska and IKEA, historically and today, in terms of both the concept and the daily operations of BoKlok. Jerker tells the listeners about his connection to Stanford University in California, what his current focus at BoKlok is and a book that everyone should read. You can listen to the podcast, called "Sustainable Homes For All" here!
